Previously, I talked about wonderful sea trips and fishing in Cyprus. But now, events are unfolding even more fascinatingly.
Yesterday’s fishing day was delightful. We were catching tuna under changing weather conditions and slight sea agitation. I decided to go to the epicenter of my favorite fishing spots on a plateau 10 km from Akrotiri, and it turned out to be the right decision. We cast our lines, and it was decided to use three rods: a popper with a yellow squid garland, which I unwound to 150 meters on the surface; a purple parrot with a working depth of 2 meters to 120 meters; and a Halco with a working depth of 6 meters, unwound to 100 meters. About 40 minutes later, the rods screeched, and we caught the first fish on the squid.
The season in Cyprus is in full swing, and despite the weather changes due to the full moon and strong winds from continental Europe, sea trips with the VCyprusFish team are going successfully. After the first fish, we headed towards Paphos, and soon another miracle awaited us!!!
Our experienced and commercial captain in Cyprus steered the ship correctly, and soon one of the rods bent, the reel came to life and almost completely unwound, and the 30+ kg line couldn’t withstand the strain. A monster that bit on the purple parrot at a depth of 6 meters caused a break and got away. Such cases have already happened with other fishermen this season, confirming that real giants have arrived in the waters of Cyprus.
In July, fishing in Cyprus can delight you not only with large Albacore tuna but also with big Yellowfin and Bluefin, as well as Merlin or Sailfish. Moreover, two Mahi-Mahi weighing about 20-23 kg have already been caught. These exciting bites made our sunrise sea trip with the VCyprusFish team even more interesting and unpredictable.
In this article, as usual, I will share the spots where these monsters were caught.
