Recently, the VCyprusFish team embarked on a series of sea voyages for fishing in Cyprus. Here’s how our three days of adventures unfolded.
Day One: Successful Fishing
On the first day of our sea journey, we caught three tunas. Our friend Yannis, a kind and responsive person from Cyprus, was with us. That morning, we used new lures from our partner HobbyManiaCy, the Halco brand, with a working depth of 6 meters. As always, we set out at dawn.
In recent days, the full moon period was ending in Cyprus, and the weather was changing: the wind was strengthening, and big waves were rising. During this time, the tuna was migrating slightly, and the latest bites were occurring closer to the Akrotiri Peninsula.
The first bite happened on the yellow-red Halco at a depth of 6 meters. Yannis caught the fish and was very happy. Continuing fishing, we headed south. About 30 minutes later, a double strike occurred, which we successfully landed and went home to enjoy sashimi from Cypriot tuna.
Day Two: One Tuna and One Escape
The next day, our sea journey brought us one tuna, but one got away. The first bite occurred 40 minutes after we cast our lines. The biting tuna made the reel scream as it unspooled the line. The VCyprusFish team fought with all their might, but the tuna kept unspooling the line repeatedly. In the end, it slipped off the hook right at the boat’s platform.
We caught the second tuna closer to the shore, where the water was warmer. It bit on a lure with a working depth of 2 meters, imitating mackerel. Learning from our bitter experience, the VCyprusFish team worked cohesively and expertly landed the dream trophy. The big tuna, weighing 16 kg, was caught and headed to our table.
Day Three: Failure and Conclusions
Today's sea trip did not bring us any fish. The night was very dark, and I think I made a mistake. We set out early, perhaps too early. In my opinion, the tuna started biting later. On the radio, the guys reported bites around 7:30 a.m., while we were already heading home at that time.
Plans for Tomorrow
Tomorrow, we plan to set out at 5 a.m. We will use new gear. We will try the golden Red-head, the classic Red-head, and deploy a string of squid at a distance of 200 meters. We will also try fishing in Cyprus later, as the full moon has ended. To be continued...
Despite the capricious weather, the company was cheerful, and we continue to write a big story about our adventures.
